3. DIU Complaint Committee to Prevention Sexual Harassment has organized a seminar on ‘Elimination of Violence Against Women’

The DIU Complaint Committee to Prevention Sexual Harassment has organized a seminar on ‘Elimination of Violence Against Women’ today on November 27, 2021 at the International Conference Hall of Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia. Dr. Fauzia Moslem, President of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad was present as the Chief Guest and Ms. Mahfuza Liza BPM, SP (Internal Affairs), Special Branch of Bangladesh Police was present as the Resource Person at the seminar. Besides, Ms. Shamima Afroze, District Judge, Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Domon Tribunal was present as the Guest of Honor. The program was presided over by Professor Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Associate Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Chairperson, Complaint Committee, DIU. Professor A. M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, DIU, Dr. Liza Sharmin, Head, Department of English, Advocate Syeda Saleha Sultana were also present at the program.

4. Seminar on Stand Together against Sexual Harassment

DIU follows 'Zero Tolerance' philosophy to prevent sexual harassment. Following the direction from the High Court Division, UGC and Ministry of Education, there is a strong Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment at Daffodil International University. DIU regularly educates the students regarding prevention of Harassment. The event was organized to revive the initiatives taken by DIU to prevent the sexual harassment through our education.

Sexual harassment has an adverse effect on victim's mental health and emotional wellbeing. It is considered a chronic stressor for the victim which may lead to severe mental disorder. To know sexual harassments from psychological perspective DIU organized a live program on "The Psychology of Sexual Harassment" under the campaign Stand Together against Sexual Harassment. In this session, sexual harassment was discussed from the psychological perspective of both the victim and the perpetrator. There was also discussions and directions about how to overcome these mental anxieties.
