Outreach programmes and projects to improve or promote health & wellbeing

1. COVID 19 Vaccine Registration Camp at DIU Campus

DIU set up a Coronavirus Support and Vaccine Registration Center at its premises for the wellbeing of the surrounding community and its stakeholders. The students, local people and others could take the right information, online registration service for Corona vaccine, Printing Vaccine card and Vaccine certificate etc. from the camp. The main objective of the camp was to assist students and local community poor people to get easy access to COVID 19 vaccine as part of DIU’s social responsibility.

2. DIU launches youth summit on aging

Daffodil International University’s Social Business Students Forum, Aging Support Forum in collaboration with Sir William Beverage Foundation jointly organized the ‘Youth Summit on Aging-2021’ on 14 October 2022 based on the theme “Digital equivalence for all age” at Daffodil Education Network Campus. As part of the summit a workshop on “How to use mobile phone technology” was arranged for the elderly persons of the society. Major General (Rtd.) Jiban Kanai Das, Country Director of the Sir William Beverage Foundation inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. Tasmima Hossain, Editor of The Daily Ittefaq and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Masum Iqbal, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University were present as special guests. Hasan Ali, President of Aging Support Forum presided over the program. Former BSCIC general manager Manjuara Begum, SBSF vice-president Mr. Rakibul Islam, General Secretary Mr. Mehdi Hassan Khan of Daffodil International University were also present at the program. The 5th edition of the Summit was held under the theme ‘Veteran in Technology’. Senior citizens from different parts of the country participated in the summit. Major General Jiban Kanai Das said, ‘We don’t know how much information and how massive utility we have on our mobiles, but today we have the opportunity to discover it’. He also thanked the mentors of the event and said, ‘Today we understand that the way our young generation mentored us, the country is safe in their hands in the future.’ For the elderly, he said, age is just a number, you still have a lot to enjoy. Speaking as the special guest, Tasmima Hossain said that the availability of internet during the corona period has helped many people to spend their time. We should all have one in mind-soul-commitment. As one generation moves forward, another generation moves forward holding their hands and this is a continuous trend.

3. Seminar on "Necessity of voluntary activities in Community Level"

Department of Pharmacy, Daffodil International University organized a seminar on "Necessity of voluntary activities in Community Level" on April 10, 2022 at International Conference Hall, Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia. Dr. Mozammel Haque khan, Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was present at the program as the chief guest and keynote speaker. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor and Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro-Vice Chancellor were present as the special guests.

Students and Faculties were highly motivated and satisfied as well as learned a lot of things about scouting philosophies and voluntary activities. The seminar will make a lasting impression on the students which will motivate them to get involved in voluntary activities.

4. Training session on- Basic Psycho-social Support Skills for Teachers

Daffodil International University is not only concerned about the academic excellence of students but also focuses on their psychological and emotional well-being. Accordingly, the Office of the Director of Students’ Affairs of DIU organized a day-long training session on- Basic Psycho-social Support Skills for Teachers conducted by Dr. Lipy Gloria Rozario, Counseling Psychologist, Bachelor in Clinical Psychology (Rome), Italy, MA in Counseling Psychology & Spirituality (USA), Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Faculty, Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, University of Dhaka. The session was attended by more than thirty faculty members of DIU to be introduced with the basic psycho-social support skills & techniques for responding to students’ psychological & emotional issues so that they can identify students in need of additional academic or personal counseling.
