Dedicated Outreach Educational Activities for wider community, alumni, local residents and displaced people

1. COVID 19 Vaccine Registration Camp at DIU for local community awareness and support

DIU established a Coronavirus Support and Vaccine Registration Center at its premises for the wellbeing of the surrounding community and its stakeholders


2. Dialogue on ‘Rohingya Crisis: Challenges and Way Forward’ Held at Daffodil International University

To create awareness regarding the Rohingya issue and their future both in Bangladesh and Myanmar along with brainstorming for possible ways out to solve the problem, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Daffodil International University organized a dialogue on ‘Rohingya Crisis: Challenges and Way Forward’. Bangladesh has given them shelter for the consideration of humanity. The discussion helped to create awareness regarding the Rohingya issue and their future both in Bangladesh and Myanmar. The recommendations came out of the discussion can be a very good document for policy advocacy in returning the Rohingya people back to Myanmar.

4. Community awareness Campaign “Bi-cycle rally”
To celebrate the 50th Independence Anniversary of Bangladesh, Daffodil International University organized a Bi-Cycle Rally at Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia, Dhaka. The initiative was taken to encourage Zero Emission Vehicles in campus and to develop a green and sustainable campus for its stakeholders. Students, alumni and local community young people took part in the final bi-cycle rally 2021.

5. Distributed "A bag of happiness" among 3000 poor families in local community
TDaffodil International University distributed "A bag of happiness" among 3000 poor families of different places of Bangladesh maintaining proper social distancing and health guidelines. A Bag of Happiness is such an initiative that Daffodil International University initiated to celebrate DIU’s achievement of the top position among universities ranked from Bangladesh and ranked within top 400 global universities in the recently announced Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2021 for its sustainable and environment-friendly initiatives and activities towards achieving the SDGs of the United Nations. Due to the COVID-19 situation, a lot of people have lost their jobs and are now leading a miserable life. Bearing this in mind, DIU took the innovative way of celebrating its global rankings achievement through distributing a bag of happiness containing daily necessities of a family like: rice, potato, lentil, oil, onion, sugar, Lassa semai etc.

6. Malaysian Crown Prince of Perils in Association with Daffodil University distributed relief among Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Crown Prince of Perils, Malaysia along with a team of Daffodil International University (DIU) visited Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar and distributed relief goods. Shaimum Sarwar Komol, MP (Cox's Bazar), Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees and other high officials of DIU accompanied with the prince to cooperate the donation activities. They visited Ukhia Rohingya Camp, hospital, Refugee, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner Office and distributed more than 100-ton rice and other food products to 2005 Rohynga families at Kutupalong camp with the help of Army. Prince of Perlis committed to set up a mosque at Kutupalong camp and initially donated an amount of RM. 15000.00 as a token money. He also committed to send doctors and donated an ambulance to the hospital. Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, Mohamed Emran Hossain, Director (Administration) and other high officials and volunteers’ team of DIU were present on the occasion. The Rohingya people got their daily necessaries which helped them to live with peace and without hunger. They also could peacefully say their prayers and the ambulance is helping their patients to receive medical treatment in time of emergency.

7. DIU Alumni Association organized blood donation camp
DIU Alumni Association in collaboration with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society organized a Blood Donation Program at DIU premises. Mr. Mominul Haque Majumder, Former President of Daffodil International University Alumni Association was present on the Occasion and inaugurated the blood donation program as the Chief Guest. Students gave their highest voluntary services to implement the program and helped a lot to make it a successful one. A total of 85 bags of blood were collected through this program which saved lives of many patients.

8. “IAmDaffodilian” card Introduced for DIU Alumni
Daffodil International University Alumni Association (DIUAA) has initiated a new service for its alumni by “IAmDaffodilian” card where DIU has signed agreement with some companies which are already giving some discount services for DIU alumni. DIU is currently a network of 20,000 students and 25,000 alumni and more than 12,000 students and alumni of Daffodil Education Network, co-connected under membership of “IAmDaffodilian” card.

9. DIU Alumni Association organized “Meet our Ex-President” COVID 19 and Beyond: The Impact on the Job Market
DIU Alumni Association organized “Meet our Ex-President” COVID 19 and Beyond: The Impact on the Job Market on 24 May 2021. The former President of DIU Alumni Association Mr. Md. Monjurul Alam who is the Head, Human Resources at Eastern Bank Ltd. Was the key speaker. The alumni of DIU were invited in the webinar who gained expert advice and experienced guidance regarding their sustainable career development.

10. DIU Alumni Association distributed daily essential commodities to distressed and displaced people
Daffodil International University Alumni Association distributed daily essential commodities to distressed and displaced people who have been affected due to COVID 19 and sudden flood and river erosion.
