International Collaborations on Gathering Data for Doing Research into SDGs and Innovations

Collaboration with Magna Charta Universitatum (MCU)
Daffodil International University (DIU) Bangladesh signed the Magna Charta Universitatum (MCU) 2020 which is an updated version of previous agreement to be more responsive to and resonate with contemporary challenges and concerns. On 28 April, Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Acting Vice-Chancellor of DIU signed the MCU on behalf of DIU. It contains principles of academic freedom and institutional autonomy as a guideline for good governance and self-understanding of universities in the future. The Magna Carta Universitatum is a document to uphold university traditions and values and encourage bonding among universities to serves as a universal inspiration throughout the world. It was first signed on the 18th of September 1988 at the 900th anniversary of the University of Bologna, Italy.

Collaboration of DIU’s Data Science Lab with Fordham University Centered AI Lab, USA on "Classroom Activity Evaluation" project
The Data Science Lab of the Software Engineering Department, Daffodil International University (DIU) Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fordham University Centered AI (FAIR) Lab of Fordham University, USA on 9 June, 2021. On account of the pandemic situation, the signing was held virtually at the respective universities where Asst. Prof. Dr. Ruhul Amin, Dept. of CSE, Fordham University signed from USA and Dr. Imran Mahmud, Head and Associate Prof., SWE, DIU signed from Bangladesh.
Dr. Frank Hsu, Clavius Distinguished Professor of Science, Professor of CIS, Fordham University, Afsana Begum, Assistant Professor, DIU and Mr. Shariful Islam, Lecturer, DIU also joined the ceremony. Fordham University is a research university in New York City established in 1841. Both the universities agreed to collaborate on the "Classroom Activity Evaluation" project, which will detect CCTV live classroom activity. Through this partnership, DIU will function as a technical resource provider and the FAIR lab will provide knowledge of data science.
DIU Research Director contributed and discussed Best Practices in Research and Rankings
Prof. Dr. Md Kabirul Islam, Director, Division of Research, Daffodil International University, Bangladesh joined a webinar on “International Ranking for Young HEIs: Challenges and Opportunities” as one of the Resource Speakers hosted by Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) in collaboration with Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) that was held on May 25, 2021. In his presentation, he focused on the topic entitled ‘Institutionalizing Research Culture and University World Rankings’.

Assoc. Prof. Mustafa AYDIN, EURAS President & Elmar GASIMOV, Rector, Baku Higher Oil School was present in the webinar among other distinguished guests and speakers. The purpose of this webinar was to listen from experts about the opportunities and challenges for young universities to be placed in international rankings while sharing their best practices in this regard.
DIU hosted webinars on ‘Research Perspective of Data Analytics’ and ‘Data Science in the Field of Epidemiology Data’
Daffodil International University in cooperation with Department of Computer Science and Engineering, organized webinars on ‘Research Perspective of Data Analytics’ and ‘Data Science in the field of Epidemiology Data’ for the academic staff, selected students, research enthusiasts of Science and Information Technology faculty concerning Data Science, on 1 October & 8 October, 2020.
Dr. Angelina Geetha, Professor & Head, School of Computing Sciences, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Sciences, India conducted both the sessions as the resource person. As the speaker, Dr. Angelina shared her instructive ideas, and delivered factual direction in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Data Science, Big Data, Image Processing, Convolutional neural network, Deep Neural Network to all the attendees of the session.
Collaboration with Millennium @EDU SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION
The agreement signed between DIU and Millennium @EDU facilitated the policy formulation in higher education institutions and NGOs regarding the tracking and implementing the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations.

Collaboration with Monmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences of Nepal
Daffodil International University signed a partnership agreement with Monmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences of Nepal with a view to build and sustain a cooperative relationship in carrying out activities like student and faculty exchange programmes, research initiatives, summer-winter programmes and short industrial visit programmes between the two parties.
AKM Fazlul Hoque, Registrar, DIU and Jiwan Prakash Sharma, Vice-chairperson, Nepal’s Monmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences signed the partnership agreement respectively in the presence of Nepalese ambassador in Bangladesh Banshidhar Mishra.
Agreement with Rostov State University of Economics (RSUE), Russia
Daffodil International University (DIU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rostov State University of Economics (RSUE), Russia. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the signing was held separately at the respective university where Prof. Dr. Elena Makarenko, Rector of RSUE signed from the RSUE part and Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Vice-Chancellor (Acting), DIU signed from DIU part. According to the MoU, from now both the universities will arrange and develop specific programs of co-operation like: Faculty and Students Program, Joint research collaboration, resource sharing, jointly organizing summer and winter camp etc. Rostov State University of Economics was founded in 1931 and it is a modern university with deep-seated traditions.
