Identifying Problems and Challenges of SDGs and Developing Policy Guidelines through Partnerships

  1. Workshop on National Taskforce for Blended Education

    To prepare a masterplan and relevant policy on blended form of higher education of Bangladesh, the National Taskforce for Blended Education, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Education, GoB organized the workshop on National Taskforce for Blended Education, hosted by Daffodil International University. The two-days workshop facilitated the formulation of a master plan along with policy for blended form of higher education in Bangladesh (both physical and online classes) which will help implement the targets of SDG 4 (Quality education).


    Daffodil International University hosted the workshop and contributed to the workshop in developing the blended education policy to ensure uninterrupted teaching-learning during any pandemic or uneven situation like COVID-19 which is being prepared by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh under the Ministry of Education, GoB. The seven sub-committees worked on developing blended education policy along with forming a master plan. The Honorable Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni; Honorable Post and Telecommunication Minister Mr. Mustafa Jabbar graced the closing ceremony of the workshop.
  2. Involvement of DIU in identifying the Challenges and Difficulties of Jamdani Weavers (Cultural Heritage Policy)

    The Department of Architecture, Daffodil International University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sheva Nari O Shishu Kallyan Kendra & REVIVAL, Chattogram, Bangladesh for “Design-BUILD of Jamdani Weaver’s House to Achieve SDGs”.

    The Department of Architecture, Daffodil International University (DIU) and REVIVAL & Sheva, under the agreement, organized a three-day long participatory residential research workshop during 23-25th June 2022 at Boragaon, Sonargaon, Narayanganj, Bangladesh. The workshop was conducted in the house of Md. Jamal Hossain, a master weaver from Sonargaon, who used to weave with a thread count of 200 to 300. Students from 9 universities and architects, and professionals from 5 different organizations worked tirelessly day and night to document the weaving process, the living condition and challenges faced by the weavers, and the context of the village. Sheikh Muhammad Rezwan, Head, Department of Architecture, DIU and Huda Mohammed Faisal, Co-founder, Revival facilitated the workshop with the help of Sheva. The workshop helped to identify challenges faced by Jamdani weavers and to find strategies to overcome those and to formulate necessary policy to ensure protection of local cultural heritage of “Jamdani”.
  3. Contributions to the Introduction of EU Sustainability strategies for Indonesia and Russia / RESTIR
    Mr. Sheikh Muhammad Rezwan, Assistant professor, Department of Architecture, Daffodil International University, Bangladesh joined as one of the speakers of International Scientific Conference with the theme ‘Use of cleaner fuels and more efficient energy technologies in EU countries’ on 19 May 2022 virtually hosted by RUDN University, Russia. He has presented a keynote on “Partnership for sustainable development experience in Bangladesh” while other speakers from Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Russia shared their different initiative related to the topic. The conference is realized in the frame of Jean Monnet project & Introduction of EU Sustainability strategies for Indonesia and Russia / RESTIR.
