DIU is committed to providing equal opportunities and access irrespective of gender, religion, castes and creeds. However, the disabled/physically challenged people will get special favor in all of its facilities. DIU has been practicing a policy (Accommodation Facilities and Policy Guidelines) in order to fulfill the necessity of the employees and the students with special attention for persons with disability.

The clause number 4 of the above-mentioned accommodation policy highlighted the facilities for the persons with disability as following:

Facilities for Persons with Disability/Physically Impaired People

1. DIU defines disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
2. This policy ensures the significance of implementation of reasonable and friendly accommodation for its disabled and physically challenged students, academic and non-academic staff.
3. Students and staff who acknowledge and term themselves as disabled/physically challenged and officially seek university accommodation facility following the applicable procedures are eligible to avail accommodation facility.
4. Besides, the applicant will also need to provide evidence of his or her disability from the Government approved doctors who are practicing in Government approved hospitals in Bangladesh.
5. The accommodation management committee will provide free accommodation facility for persons with disability depending on the financial condition and needs of the applicant under this category with the support of Daffodil Institute of Social Sciences (DISS)- an institute which takes care of the disabled and destitute people of the society, and other scholarship facilities of the university.
6. The ground floor of all the halls will be allocated for persons with disability for ensuring their easy and comfortable entry and exit. There is ramp facility in all the stairs of the residence and all the elevators have easy access facility for the disabled.
