Training on Social Business Initiatives by the Social Business Students' Forum (SBSF) of DIU

The Social Business Students' Forum (SBSF) of Daffodil International University took the initiative of organizing a training on Social Business Initiatives and growth of the Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC). Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Director of YSBC and the Dean of the Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurship (FBE) conducted the training where he shared insights from various perspectives on Social Business and its practices at DIU, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Distinguished Convener, Advisors, President, and senior members of SBSF also joined the training session.

Training on Fire and Earthquake Safety Measures

To address the concern of fire and earthquake incidents, Daffodil International University conducted a Training session Fire and Earthquake Safety Measures to ensure campus safety. The aim was to equip administrative employees with fire-fighting skills and raise awareness about fire risk and earthquake situations. Participants learned to use extinguishers effectively and mitigate fire risks. This initiative underscores DIU’s commitment to ensuring a safer campus environment.

Training session on Excellence in Educational Leadership

In continuation of DIU’s continuous efforts, Human Resource Development Institute of DIU arranged a faculty training session on Excellence in Educational Leadership. In this session, the visiting Professor Dr. Franco Gandolfi discussed the importance of educational leadership in the 21st century, especially in the post-pandemic era. He enlightened the room full of faculties about the 11 driving forces of the current situation in education. This highly interactive session brought out many issues about teaching pedagogy.

Importance of Blood Donation Session

The Importance of Blood Donation session, organized by Daffodil International University Health and Fitness Club in collaboration with Quantum Foundation, underscores the social responsibility and community engagement fostered by the university. This event directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by raising awareness about the critical need for blood donation and its significant impact on saving lives. By encouraging students, faculty, and staff to donate blood, DIU promotes altruism, solidarity, and the well-being of society at large. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of Daffodil International University, imparts invaluable insights to DIU students through the masterclass on Employability360 Learning to Leading: A Journey to Confident Career Growth. From setting career targets to leveraging technology and AI, his guidance is considered to be a cornerstone for student success.

Distribution of Winter Blankets to Underprivileged People

Under the program "Daffodil Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha," Daffodil Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha distributed blankets to more than two hundred cold people in Ashulia, Savar. This initiative directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by addressing the immediate needs of underprivileged individuals and promoting social equity. By providing warmth and comfort to those in need during the cold winter months, DIU demonstrates its commitment to social responsibility and community welfare. Through initiatives like this, DIU strives to create a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Corporate Leadership Training

Daffodil International University organized a training for its students on Corporate Leadership led by Professor Franco Gandolfi, Professor of Leadership at Georgetown University, USA, and Visiting Professor of FBE, DIU. He shared profound insights into the essential attributes required for success in corporate leadership, including risk-taking, problem-solving, and resilience. This event drew an enthusiastic audience of over 250 registered students. The Dean of FBE, DIU, was also present in the training program.

Free Healthcare Program by Daffodil Bandhu Sabha

Daffodil Bandhu Sabha, in collaboration with Daffodil International University, provided free healthcare to more than two hundred poor and underprivileged people in the areas adjacent to DIU in Ashulia, Dhaka. This initiative, held on October 31 as part of 'One Good Work,' exemplifies DIU's commitment to social responsibility and community welfare, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-being). By offering healthcare services to vulnerable populations, DIU addresses health inequalities, promotes access to quality healthcare, and contributes to the overall well-being of communities. This program not only improves health outcomes but also fosters a sense of solidarity, compassion, and social cohesion among beneficiaries and volunteers. Through initiatives like this, DIU plays a vital role in advancing social justice, equity, and sustainable development in society.

Training on Safe Workplaces and Preventing Sexual Harassment

Daffodil International University organized a training titled "Safe Workplaces, Strong Workforces: Addressing and Preventing Sexual Harassment" in collaboration with the University's Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment. This initiative contributes to promoting gender equality, ensuring a respectful workplace culture, and safeguarding the rights and dignity of individuals. By raising awareness and implementing preventive measures, DIU demonstrates its commitment to fostering a supportive and harassment-free campus environment, aligning with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Hands- on Training on Startup Market

The Department of Innovation & Entrepreneurship of DIU organized a Hands-on Training on Startup Market concept where 40 students from various departments were allocated stalls and they practically acted as an entrepreneur and sold their innovative products with their marketing skills in the startup market.

Training on Safe Workplaces and Preventing Sexual Harassment

The Mindful Eating Session serves as a vital component of social sustainability, emphasizing the importance of healthy habits and well-being among participants. Through mindfulness techniques and guidance on conscious food choices, the session not only promotes individual health but also fosters a collective commitment to sustainable dietary practices. By encouraging participants to be mindful of their eating habits and food choices, it contributes to the promotion of health and nutrition within communities.

Moreover, by advocating for responsible consumption, it aligns with the principles of SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production, aiming to reduce food waste and promote sustainable food systems. In essence, the session underscores the interconnection between individual well-being and societal sustainability, emphasizing the role of mindful eating in fostering healthier and more sustainable communities.
