Training Sessions or programmes to improve access to basic services for all
HRDI led a session on 'Sustainable Living: Small Change, Big Impact' at the Bangladesh Training and Research Foundation. The session, which was organized by Good Neighbors Bangladesh, aimed to help participants explore how small changes in daily habits can lead to significant long-term impacts. This initiative promotes eco-friendly practices and a green future, which aligns with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action.
Consumer Rights: Daffodil International University organized a seminar on the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, to raise awareness among students and faculty about their rights as consumers. The event included a documentary screening, a quiz competition, and a campus awareness rally. This initiative promotes responsible consumption and fair practices, contributing to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
Food Waste Advocacy: The Department of Journalism, Media and Communication at DIU organized a field day with the primary objective of raising awareness about reducing food waste among local students and restaurant workers. The initiative focused on the environmental impact of food waste and empowered participants with practical strategies to reduce it. This community engagement initiative is a great example of promoting sustainable practices, which aligns with SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action.

Subsidized Accommodation Facilities:
Recognizing that housing expenses can be a significant barrier for low-income students, DIU offers subsidized on-campus accommodation. Last year, 4,429 male and 2,716 female students took advantage of these affordable housing options. These facilities ensure that students from financially constrained backgrounds have access to safe and stable living environments close to campus, eliminating the need for costly commutes or external housing. Subsidized food facilities for students
To address food insecurity, which can negatively impact student well-being and academic performance, DIU provides subsidized meal options on campus through facilities such as Green-Garden and Startup Foods. With more than 15,500 students benefiting from these affordable food services, the program ensures that students have access to nutritious meals throughout the day, regardless of their financial background. By making essential meals accessible, DIU reduces the risk of students skipping meals due to financial hardship, helping them maintain their health and energy levels, which are critical for academic success.
