Programmes to recruit students/staff/faculty from under-represented groups

Daffodil International University conducts several programs to facilitate recruitment of the students, staff and faculty who come from the underrepresented communities. We also offer them flexibility for their attachment with DIU. The university has adopted various provisions for providing suitable facilities for these communities including the financial benefits. A few of these facilities and events are presented below.

1.Waiver & Scholarship Scheme for Women, Disabled, Ethnic minority group

DIU has a waiver and scholarship scheme where women and underrepresented persons (Women, Disabled, Ethnic minority group, etc.) get financial waiver and assistance to get admitted and continue their higher education.

2.Encouraging Women to IT Subjects (Programming Language) and Design Career as IT Entrepreneurs where they are Underrepresented

The women in Bangladesh are underrepresented in the IT sector and they are lagging behind in programming language. To encourage women in order to design their career as IT entrepreneur, a seminar on “Design Your Career as IT Entrepreneurship and Grow" was held at Daffodil International University, Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia. The members of the Girls Computer Programming Club of DIU participated in the seminar, which was jointly organized by Bangladesh Women in IT (BWIT) and Daffodil International University. The seminar was chaired by Vice President of BWIT, Ms. Nazneen Kamal. Ms. Ambareen Reza, Co-Founder, Foodpanda and Ms. Nigar Sultana, Director, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), TMSS delivered their speech as the speakers of the session. Professor Dr. Touhid Bhuiyan, Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, DIU along with other distinguished faculties were present at the seminar.

3.Employing Special people (physically challenged and visually impaired) at DIU Campuses

Daffodil International University hires employees with special ability (physically challenged and visually impaired) who are contributing to the university and society as a stakeholder. Mr. Kawsar Hamid (psychically challenged), is working for Students' Affairs Office and Mosa. Manzu Akther (Visually Impaired) is working for DIU Central Information Desk. It created an exceptional and ideal environment to inspire the entire society.
