Programmes and policies to end poverty in all its dimensions

Social Business Education: DIU integrates the "3 Zero Vision" (zero poverty, zero unemployment, zero net carbon emissions) of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus into its curriculum:

The Social Business Students' Forum hosted a workshop on "A World of Three Zeros" at the Yunus Centre. The workshop introduced participants to Dr. Muhammad Yunus's concept of zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions. Students participated in a brainstorming session and presented innovative solutions aligned with the three zeros concept.

The 13th Social Business Exposure Program (SBEP 2024) aimed at inspiring students with Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus's "3 Zero Vision" (zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions). The event also included a prize-giving ceremony for the winners and a cultural program, which highlights the university's commitment to social business education, which aligns with SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16zh7iJw53/

DIU hosted the Grand Finale of the 2nd National Social Business Case Competition 2025, which saw 664 students from 28 universities present innovative social business solutions. The event was organized to promote youth-led innovation and social change, with Team Silkonomist from the University of Rajshahi being crowned champion. The competition fosters a culture of innovation and social entrepreneurship, which aligns with SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Global Exposure:

Daffodil International University launched the first edition of the Asia-Pacific Summer Program (APSP) 2025, in collaboration with the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), with the motto "Together, a Great Summer." The program, which was attended by 33 participants from 10 countries, offers an immersive academic experience with courses, industry visits, and cultural exchanges. The APSP 2025 highlights the university's commitment to global education, which supports SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Learn & earn at DIU

The "Learn & Earn at DIU" program is a key initiative under SDG 1: No Poverty. It provides on-campus, part-time employment to students, helping them gain experience, develop skills, and earn income. This effort aims to reduce financial barriers to education and promote self-reliance. The program directly supports SDG 1: No Poverty by providing students with tangible financial assistance, empowering them with skills for better-paying jobs after graduation, and helping to reduce the risk of student dropout due to financial hardship.

The DIU Air Rover Scout Group, in collaboration with the DIU Medical Center, organized a Free Medical Camp as part of the Community Development Program 2024. Over 500 patients received free consultations and medicines, and about 400 people had their blood groups tested. The camp also raised awareness about dengue prevention and the reduction of single-use plastic, contributing to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. The focus on reducing single-use plastic also directly relates to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
