International Collaboration with Kaufland Sustainability Initiative

Daffodil International University is a trusted partner of Kaufland in the Kaufland Bangladesh project. In the Detox Commitment with Greenpeace, the Kaufland undertakes to refrain from using environmentally hazardous chemicals in the manufacture of their own brands in the areas of clothing, home textiles and shoes based on their data derived from the research. “Together with the students from Daffodil International University in Dhaka, they are researching on this data and solutions to eliminate heavy metal residues in water. DIU got a certificate as the trusted partner of Kauflan for its active participation in the Detox Project 2019. It is an example of international collaboration on gathering and measuring data for SDGs.

e-Talk on Sustainability of Industrial Wheel & Behavior of People in Pandemic: Bangladesh & Vietnam's Perspective
An e-Talk on Sustainability of Industrial Wheel & Behavior of People in Pandemic: Bangladesh & Vietnam's Perspective was organized by Daffodil International University to have collaboration and discussion on the human health, trade and economic data which are very much linked with the SDGs. The economy is of Bangladesh & Vietnam is almost similar where RMG sector is the biggest export earners of both countries. Vietnam is one of the first countries in the world which has controlled its corona-virus pandemic and operating its economic activities in full swing. In the e-Talk distinguished resource persons from Bangladesh and Vietnam exchanged the views and data of Sustainability of Industry and human behavior of people in Pandemic.


Daffodil University is a Signatory of SDG Accord
Daffodil International University is a signatory of SDG Accord. The SDG Accord is the university and college sector’s collective response to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). It was launched in September 2017 and is administered by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges.
In the page number 11 of the SDG Accord Report, July, 2019, the SDG Accord has published the testimonial of Daffodil International University (DIU) in implementing the high quality teaching-learning (SDG-4) at DIU.

Promotional Partner of AASHE Global Conference of Sustainability in Higher Education

Daffodil International University was a Promotional Partner of AASHE Global Conference of Sustainability in Higher Education. DIU is also a member of Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). DIU has been striving to make a footprint in this arena through its contributions towards sustainable development initiatives. In order to promote the achievements of certain SDGs, DIU has taken initiative to incorporate sustainability related courses in each academic programs. Focusing on the contributions towards SDGs through research and academic excellence, DIU has also established separate academic departments (https://faculty.daffodilvarsity.edu.bd/): Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management (SDG-13); Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SDG-8), Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering (SDG-2); Department of Public Health (SDG-3). DIU develops its graduates with sustainability skills and environmental awareness. The university adopts sustainable practices in all its development activities and initiatives.


Collaboration with HEC, Montreal Canada for Regional Final of Social Business Creation, Bangladesh


HEC, Montreal Canada and Daffodil International University jointly organized Regional Final of Social Business Creation, Bangladesh chapter on July 30, 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University. ‘Sorbojaya’ team comprised with Mahfuz Islam (Textile Engineering Department), Meghla Akter Mitu (English Department) and Md. Ashik Iqbal (CSE Department) became Regional champion in Social Business Creation, Bangladesh chapter and moved to Canada to attend the global final. This event helps to gather and measure data and social business in each of participating country.

His Excellency, Benoit Préfontaine, High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh joined the program as the Chief Guest and handed over the awards among the winning team members. Ms. Lamiya Morshed, Executive Director, Yunus Centre joined the program as the Special Guest.
Sustainable Development Goals Help Desk Membership:


The Sustainable Development GoalsHelp Desk is a one-stop online service providing access to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-related tools, knowledge products, data portals, expertise, advice and opportunities for peer-learning and regional South-South cooperation through thematic areas, covering a multitude of topics. Daffodil International University achieved the membership of Sustainable Development Goals HelpDesk.


Sustainable Development Solutions Network Membership


As a Member of Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Daffodil International University has been closely working with the network for strengthening SDG implementation network. The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was set up in 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society. SDSN is guided by a Leadership Council, which brings together global sustainable development leaders from all regions and all sectors, including civil society, public, and private sectors. The Leadership Council acts as the board of SDSN. Much of SDSN’s work is led by National or Regional SDSNs, which mobilize knowledge institutions around the SDGs. Our research & policy work mobilizes experts from around the world on the technical challenges of implementing the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement. The SDG Academy leads the education work of the SDSN.

DIU Arranged and Facilitated 2019 Youth4SDG Asia Leadership Program in BD


Daffodil International University (DIU) hosted "Youth4SDG Asia Leadership Program 2019" in Bangladesh organized by Youthink Center China with active participation of 18 talented students from 18 different universities in China. Under this program, the young leaders worked to create the social business plan after surveying different villages of Bangladesh under case study. They also visited the small enterprises, social business project, and had sessions on Social Business model Canvas etc. The program was held from 19 to 26 Jan 2019.
DIU Chairman Dr. Md. Sabur Khan conducted a session on 'Social Entrepreneurship in Mind' followed by certificate awarding for the participants at the closing ceremony after 1 week-long social business action learning. All the participants under 3 teams presented their social business project targeting different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Alex Wang, Secretary-General, Youthink Center, China & Prof. Dr. Md Masum Iqbal, Dean of FBE and Director of YSBC DIU, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to organize similar program every year and share each other's resources in near future focusing on SDG.
