Developing international best practice on tackling the SDGs

International Training on Sustainable Land Management: Principles, Practices, and Application in India

Dr. Mahfuza Parveen, Associate Professor of ESDM at DIU, participated in a five-day international training on "Sustainable Land Management: Principles, Practices, and Application," held from March 6-10, 2024. The training, which included 19 participants from 12 countries, focused on addressing land degradation and promoting ecosystem health, with an emphasis on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Parveen contributed her insights on sustainable land management practices and SDG alignment. The event featured resource persons from four countries and covered a wide range of topics, including policy frameworks, practical applications, and case studies. Participants also visited restoration sites, observing innovative land restoration techniques and practices in India.
 


DIU Chairman at Global Education Summit 2023

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of Daffodil International University and President of AUAP, participated in the Global Education Summit 2023 hosted by Chandigarh University. The summit, themed "One Earth, One Family, One Future," underscores SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), focusing on global collaboration for a sustainable future.

Partnership with Millersville University (MU), USA

Millersville University (MU), USA, and Daffodil International University (DIU) Bangladesh join hands to sign a partnership agreement recently in the presence of Dr. Dan Kulmala, Assistant Vice President, International Programs and Global Engagement, MU, and Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, DIU.

Participation in the COP29 Simulation 2024 in Egypt

DIU students Fatema Tuj Juhura Sadia and Md Tahmid Chowdhury represented Bangladesh at the COP29 Simulation 2024 held in Egypt. This prestigious event was organized by The British University in Egypt, in partnership with UNDP Egypt and ADA University. The students were selected after successfully participating in extensive online research and capacity-building programs on climate diplomacy. They received scholarships to attend the event, which featured comprehensive sessions on climate change, international policy negotiations, and sustainable development strategies. This simulation served as a platform to exchange best practices, learn from climate experts, and contribute to discussions on global climate goals, thus aligning with SDG 13 (Climate Action). The event emphasized cross-cultural understanding and youth involvement in climate-related decision-making​​.

Strengthening Global Education and Research: Collaboration Meeting with Mr. Alain Roy

DIU had a productive collaboration with the Colleges and Institutes Canada. The discussion covered key topics, including the development of mobility programs, collaborative research initiatives, sharing best practices and the International Internship Program with DIU. This meeting supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by discussing the development of mobility programs and collaborative research initiatives. It also aligns with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through the focus on the International Internship Program, which promotes skills development and employment opportunities.

Strengthening Quality Education and Global Partnerships through Collaboration with Multimedia University

On May 2, 2024, the Department of Software Engineering formed a collaboration with Multimedia University, Malaysia, focusing on faculty and student exchanges as well as joint research projects. This partnership aims to enhance academic growth and facilitate cultural exchange while advancing collaborative research efforts in software engineering. By strengthening international partnerships, we contribute to SDG 4: Quality Education through enriched learning opportunities and skills development, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizing the significance of global cooperation in achieving sustainable educational outcomes and driving innovation.

Partnerships for the Goals through Collaboration with Xiamen University

The Department of Software Engineering initiated a research collaboration with Xiamen University, Malaysia, focusing on faculty and student exchanges as well as joint research initiatives. This partnership aims to enhance academic and cultural exchange while driving innovative research projects in software engineering and related fields. By fostering international collaboration, we contribute to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, reinforcing the importance of global partnerships in achieving sustainable development objectives and sharing knowledge to address complex challenges in technology and education. 

Global Health Research Collaboration: DIU Partners with Experts from Murray State University and Thammasat University


We are pleased to announce a collaboration with esteemed participants, including Professor Dr. Azaher Ali Molla from the Department of Public and Community Health, School of Nursing and Health Professions at Murray State University, USA, and Dr. Shekh Mohammad Altafur Rahman from Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand. This partnership aims to foster joint research initiatives, enhance public health education, and promote knowledge exchange to address global health challenges.

Collaboration with ASEM Education and Research Hub for Lifelong Learning (ASEM LLL Hub) 

To advance lifelong learning through collaborative efforts in joint events, exchanges, research, and policy development, the ASEM Education and Research Hub for Lifelong Learning (ASEM LLL Hub) and Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh, signed a partnership agreement. 

Fostering Strategic Partnerships: DIU and Centurion University Collaborate on Key Sustainable Initiatives

A delegation of four members from Centurion University of Technology & Management, India, led by Prof. Vasudeva Venkata Laxmi, Vice President of the university, visited Daffodil International University (DIU). The delegation engaged in a series of meetings and sessions with DIU management, Deans, Heads of Departments, and key officials. Through in-depth discussions, DIU and Centurion University finalized a new partnership to implement best practices and collaborative projects focusing on five key areas: micro-credentials, waste management, textile production, electric vehicles, and advanced wood engineering. This strategic collaboration aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), promoting sustainable development and innovation across multiple sectors.

Strengthening Partnerships: DIU Visits KIIT and KISS

A 15-member delegation from DIU visited KIIT and KISS in Odisha, India, to enhance their decade-long partnership. Discussions included new initiatives like the India-Bangladesh Study and Cultural Center (IBSCC) and student exchanges. The visit, which aimed at fostering collaboration and sharing best practices, supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by deepening academic ties and mutual learning.

Partnership with Nottingham Trent University for Sharing Best Practices

Daffodil International University (DIU) has partnered with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), marking a significant milestone as one of the first Bangladeshi universities to do so. The agreement facilitates academic, research, and exchange programs, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The partnership was formalized by DIU Chairman Sabur Khan, NTU Vice Chancellor Prof. Edward Peck, and Mansfield Mayor Andy Abrahams.

DIU Delegation at EAIE Conference 2024: International Best Practice

A 3-member delegation from Daffodil International University represented the institution at Europe’s largest Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition 2024. This participation aimed to bolster international partnerships and expand DIU’s global network, aligning with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Participation in the 3rd International Conference on Green Sustainable Technology and Management in Malaysia

Dr. Mahfuza Parveen, Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management (ESDM) at DIU, participated in the 3rd International Conference on Green Sustainable Technology and Management (ICGSTM 2024) from June 19-21 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As one of the keynote speakers in the Health and Life Science track, Dr. Mahfuza, along with seven other presenters from DIU, shared insights on sustainable practices. The conference, co-hosted by DIU, provided a platform for international collaboration, where four presenters from DIU’s ESDM department also contributed. 

DIU Chairman Speaks at AUAP Forum on Health in South Korea

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, President of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) and Founder & Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Daffodil International University, participated in the AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum on Health held in South Korea. Hosted by Daegu Health College, the forum brought together over 100 participants from 12 countries and 45 universities. Dr. Khan delivered a keynote speech on "Integrating AI into Higher Education," emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing academic environments and promoting mental health awareness. The program featured sessions on Medical Technology, Nursing & Rehabilitation, paper presentations, MoU signings, and medical tours. Dr. Khan also chaired the 55th AUAP Executive Board Meeting as part of the event’s side activities.

DIU Chairman Elected as Treasurer at International Association of University Presidents (IAUP)

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of Daffodil International University, has made history as the first Bangladeshi elected Treasurer of International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) for 2027-2030. The announcement came at the IAUP General Assembly in Beijing, with global leaders from 53 countries in attendance.
