International Collaboration for Research into SDGs and Discover Best Practices for Livelihood

BRAC University and Daffodil International University Shared their Best Practices
A delegation team of 4 members led by Dr. Dave Dowland, Registrar of BRAC University, Dhaka visited the Green Campus of DIU and discussed on best practice.


DIU shared the best practice on maintaining quality, ensuring employability and getting success in automation and digitization effort, encouraging their students in innovation and entrepreneurship. Accordingly, BRAC delegates also shared their best practices for Research and development, innovation in teaching & learning systems and expressed to work collaboratively with Daffodil International University to create a vibrant joint platform to contribute more in the national economy. Like Daffodil International University, BRAC University also believes that this country has immense opportunity if together can develop the young generation as the Government authorities are giving highest importance to implement Education 4.0 and skill focused outcome-based education. The best practice and experience sharing by both the institutions will have a definite impact on the society, community and particularly in developing the young generation to ensure their contribution in the national economy.

DIU Research Director contributed and discussed Best Practices in Research and Rankings
Prof. Dr. Md Kabirul Islam, Director, Division of Research, Daffodil International University, Bangladesh joined a webinar on “International Ranking for Young HEIs: Challenges and Opportunities” as one of the Resource Speakers hosted by Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) in collaboration with Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) that was held on May 25, 2021. In his presentation, he focused on the topic entitled ‘Institutionalizing Research Culture and University World Rankings’.


Assoc. Prof. Mustafa AYDIN, EURAS President & Elmar GASIMOV, Rector, Baku Higher Oil School was present in the webinar among other distinguished guests and speakers. The purpose of this webinar was to listen from experts about the opportunities and challenges for young universities to be placed in international rankings while sharing their best practices in this regard.

DIU Representative Discussed on its SDGs best practices at 76th UNGA High-Level Event on Social Business, Youth and Technology


The 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Event on Social Business, Youth and Technology was hosted by the Government of Cape Verde, The Government of Nigeria and Global Committee on Social Business for Sustainable Development Goals, co-curated by Yunus Centre, The Yunus+You Foundation and Youthink Center on 25 September 2021. DIU’s representative Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam of International Affairs shared DIU's Best Practices and achievements on SDGs, Internationalization and Social Business.

Collaboration with Fordham University Centered AI (FAIR) Lab of Fordham University, USA on "Classroom Activity Evaluation" project


The Data Science Lab of the Software Engineering Department, Daffodil International University (DIU) Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fordham University Centered AI (FAIR) Lab of Fordham University, USA on 9 June, 2021. On account of the pandemic situation, the signing was held virtually at the respective universities where Asst. Prof. Dr. Ruhul Amin, Dept. of CSE, Fordham University signed from USA and Dr. Imran Mahmud, Head and Associate Prof., SWE, DIU signed from Bangladesh.


Dr. Frank Hsu, Clavius Distinguished Professor of Science, Professor of CIS, Fordham University, Afsana Begum, Assistant Professor, DIU and Mr. Shariful Islam, Lecturer, DIU also joined the ceremony. Fordham University is a research university in New York City established in 1841. Both the universities agreed to collaborate on the "Classroom Activity Evaluation" project, which will detect CCTV live classroom activity. Through this partnership, DIU will function as a technical resource provider and the FAIR lab will provide knowledge of data science.

 

Sharing Best Practices During Observance of International Days-2021


As a part of internationalization initiative, Daffodil International University (DIU) Bangladesh co-organized ‘International Days-2021’ hosted by Powiślański University, Poland from 17 to 19 June, 2021. The program is also co-organized by universities from Jordan, Philippines, India, Belarus, Croatia, Palestine and Macedonia where students and staff from many different countries joined and shared their best practices in various SDGs related areas (opportunities for students and graduates, sharing of global learning, Erasmus experience, virtual academic experience, exploring scholarships etc.)

Partnership with Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), Philippines for Research Collaboration


Daffodil International University (DIU) signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), Philippines. On account of the pandemic situation, the signing was held separately at the respective universities where Dr. Victor C. Canezo, President of BiPSU signed from Philippines and Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) of DIU signed from Bangladesh. According to the agreement, from now both the universities will arrange and develop specific programs of co-operation like: Faculty and Students Program, Joint research collaboration, resource sharing, jointly organizing summer/winter camps, scholarships, and remarkable innovations in the future etc.

DIU Librarian Discussed on a Webinar highlighting Library Best Practices and Services


Dr. Md. Milan Khan, Librarian, Daffodil International University attended as one of the guest speakers of the webinar on Library Services Amidst Pandemic organized by Learning Resource Center, San Pedro College, Philippines. The webinar was organized with a view to unfolding the best practices of International Librarians and Learning Resource Centers experts from Indonesia, Philippines and Bangladesh.

As a guest speaker, he talked about best practices in Library Marketing Strategies in the Midst of Pandemic, e-tools impacts of library promotion and highlighted Library promotion activities of DIU. Around two hundred participants have joined the webinar and gathered inventive ideas of Library Marketing by the earnest sessions of the library practitioners.

DIU Faculties Contributed in the International Scientific Conference


The International Scientific Conference with the theme “The health sector in the face of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic” and 2nd International Student Conference was held during 15 to 16 May 2021 on a virtual platform organized by Powiślański University, Poland where Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh was an active Co-Organizer. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder & Chairman of DIU delivered the opening remarks and appreciated everyone with a hope to explore the best solutions for a more secure and efficient health sector.
Dr. Sharifa Sultana, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Department of DIU joined as a Panelist of the Session: Case Studies; and Dr. Mofizur Rahman, Assistant Professor presented a talk on Carrier development for RNA vaccine delivery. The conference brought students, researchers, academics from different countries of the world that includes Russia, Poland. Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, India, Bangladesh. Georgia, Jordan, Bosnia, Lebanon, and more presented research works, exchanged ideas, and best practices to make the conference more enlightening and meaningful.

 

DIU Receives ‘Best Partner University’ Recognition from UniMAP, Malaysia


Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh received the recognition of ‘Best Partner University’ of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Malaysia through DIU’s cooperation and student’s participation in Asia Summer Program (ASP) 2021. Apart from that, the participating DIU team also achieved ‘Outstanding Student Award’ for their excellent participation in academic and intercultural engagement in ASP 2021 which was organized from 16 to 29 August. It facilitated students to exchange ideas and share knowledge, to have experience on various aspects regarding daily life, and to promote friendship between the participating universities; participants had first-hand cross-cultural experience and enhanced communication skills by joining this program.

Webinar on "Reenergizing the Economy through Sustainable Finance"


Daffodil International University along with the Global Compact Network Bangladesh (GCNB) organized the webinar on "Reenergizing the Economy through Sustainable Finance" February 24, 2021. The high-level speakers and experts in the areas of sustainable finance shared their insights into the concept of sustainable finance, its role and importance in funding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ways of rebuilding and reenergizing the economy in response to COVID-19 as well as shared the best practice examples of using sustainable finance as a guiding principle for growth, innovation and development.

DIU Students Attended AUAP Ubaya Online Summer Program (Focusing COVID-19 pandemic and the best practices of Indonesia)

A group of 13 students from Daffodil International University joined AUAP Ubaya Online Summer Program organized by University of Surabaya, Indonesia from February 1-5, 2021. The program was focused on COVID-19 pandemic and the best practices of Indonesia. This was a virtual gathering for conscious and advanced students from Asia and beyond to discuss various topics including the Covid-19 vaccine, effect of Covid-19 pandemic on the economic, scientific, law and social perspective.
DIU students also shared their ideas, updates and initiatives of Bangladesh regarding the crisis management. This platform created awareness about best practices across the region to tackle the pandemic along with reducing the monotony of the global pandemic with around three hundred participants which also facilitated the global networking of the students.

International Collaboration with the AUAP for Research & Quality Assurance in HEIs


Daffodil International University has been collaborating with the Association of the Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) for ensuring the quality of higher education and quality impactful research projects and publication in a regional and international collaborative manner. DIU researchers and quality experts have been contributing to the Research & Innovation committee and Quality Assurance Committee of AUAP. The research prospects, focus areas, potential research collaboration among the network etc. are also the focused areas where this collaboration strives for. The committees strive to work on research development activities in SDGs areas and enhancing quality of higher education (SDG 4).
