2. 16th AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum (International Best Practice)


Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, DIU inaugurated the 16th AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum. The theme of the forum was Sustainability in Higher Education for Asia-Pacific Region: Collaboration in a Complex Adaptive Environment. Dr. Khan was the Chief Guest of 16th AUAP Learning and Sharing Forum held at Dakak Park and Beach Resort in Philippines. The event was hosted by Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), Philippines. This was his first representation as 2nd Vice President of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP). Dr. Khan presented his keynote speech as Chief Guest with the title “Technology and Digitization of Higher Education in Asia-Pacific Region: Special Reference to Fourth Industrial Revolution” and shared the international best practices adopted by DIU. Dr. Khan officially inaugurated this 3 days long program on the morning of 5th February with the university leaders and distinguished guests from different countries.

3. Implementation of Home Scale Desalination Plant Design and Development for Treating Saline Water of Coastal Area as an example of International Best Practice


A group of scientists of the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management of DIU through international collaboration and experience implemented Home Scale Desalination Plant Design and Development for Treating Saline Water of Coastal Area as an example of International Best Practice. As the water layer of coastal areas of Bangladesh is being salinized due to the adverse effects of climate change, gradually the residents of those areas are facing it difficult to access to drinkable pure water. The implementation of the above-mentioned Desalination model is an outcome of the learning of the faculty members of DIU while they were pursuing their higher studies and research at foreign universities. They utilized their experienced and expert network to implement the project which is an example of international collaboration towards implementing best practice.

4. Seminar on “Cancer Genetics and Precision Medicine” to Create awareness regarding the international best practice to fight against cancer


World renowned scientist Sir Walter Bodmer speaks on “Cancer Genetics and Precision Medicine” at Daffodil International University. Department of Pharmacy in collaboration with the Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University organized a seminar on “Cancer Genetics and Precision Medicine” on February 19, 2020 at 71 Milonyaton of Daffodil International University.


Presided over by Professor Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU, world renowned scientist Sir Walter Bodmer, MA, PhD, FRCPath, FRS, Head, Cancer and Immunogenetics Lab, University of Oxford, Founding Head, Department of Genetics, University of Oxford and Fellow of the Royal Society, UK was the keynote speaker in the seminar.

5. Implementation of international best practice through Water Spinach Utilization as a Phytoremediation Technique for detoxing the Waste water


A group of scientists of the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management of DIU through international collaboration and experience implemented the Phytoremediation Technique for detoxing the Waste water through water spinach utilization. The model shows the cost-effective and environment-friendly process of detoxing the water through water spinach utilization.

6. Panel Discussion on Implementation of ‘ACPP’ Model (Applied Career Placement Program) for graduating students of Bangladesh


Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) of Daffodil International University organized a panel discussion on ‘ACPP - Applied Career Placement Program’ for graduating students of Bangladesh on December 17, 2019. Ms. Booshra Ahmed, Senior Vice President, Bank of America and Faculty, MBA & Data Science Program, University of North Carolina Charlotte presented her developed program model ‘ACCP’. In her presentation she pointed out that there is a gap between universities course curriculum and industries requirement. She wished that this model would help to fulfill the gap between academia and industry and it would be a win- win situation for student, university and industry and she believes that ACPP will help Bangladeshi graduate’s job placement. Ms. Booshra Ahmed also said that student will get opportunity to doing part time job in an industry under this program. The duration of this program will be 17 month.

7. Representation of DIU Faculty as Elected Executive Council Member of the Asian Association of Law Professors (AALP) for Sharing Experience and Best Practice


Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Professor of Law & Associate Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Daffodil International University, has been elected as an Executive Council Member of the Asian Association of Law Professors (AALP) in the 1st General Assembly of AALP in Kathmandu, Nepal on July 10, 2019 for next three years. The objectives of this Association is to develop greater partnership and deeper relations between the Law Schools in Asia.

8. Participation of DIU Students in International Project Competition for ‘IEEE YESIST12 2019’ for Developing Best Practices


Two students of Daffodil International University (DIU) Md. Anaet Ullah from the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Md. Tariqul Islam from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering attended the Project Competition for ‘IEEE YESIST12 2019’ under the Maker Fair from 7 to 8 September 2019, at Stamford International University in Hua Hin, Thailand.
Participants from around 19 countries attended in this competition with the vision of instilling social responsibility and ethics as continuing education in the young minds through activities and encourage service-oriented engineering practice. DIU participants exhibited ‘IOT Based Transport Management System’ and attended several workshops like ‘Innovative Project Idea’, Humanitarian Technology, etc.

9. Established Innovation Lab at Daffodil International University to Facilitate Startup and Entrepreneurship as International Best Practice


Daffodil International University has set up a large “Innovation Lab” with a focus on research and innovation at its permanent campus. The lab has been included with marker space, robotics zone, 3D printer, IOT-based electric bulb, fan, air conditioning, architectural design, book reading zone, business incubator, meeting room, all in one TV with android and windows facilities. Students can research, develop and implement their ideas through this Innovation Lab. The lab also started to invite Industry leaders to share their ideas with the students of DIU. In the light of this, on 18th October 2019, two industrialists visited the innovation lab and they talked and exchanged views with the brilliant innovators. This collaboration between industry and academic will provide a great opportunity to develop the link between industry and academia, and has led to further collaborative projects. This is a special platform to easily identify opportunities for research and development. This collaboration will also provide business development and scouting to acquire promising technologies by identifying interesting projects and new emerging technologies and assets from business-savvy research groups.



A team of DIU students presented their research project and business potentiality in front of the respected industrialist Mr. Fazle R. M. Hasan, FCA, Honorable Chairman of North Bengal Cycle Industries LTD and Former President of DCCI & Proprietor Allied Enterprise, Mr. Mehdi Shams, President of the Center for Robotic Innovation and Development USA (CRID USA).


Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University presided over the discussion and provided the guidelines to start the project and to build a one-stop platform to support researchers in every step of converting their best ideas into scientific results and achieving real-world impact.

10. DIU Faculty became Global Mentor for Best Practice of Startups in the World Congress- 2020


Two faculties of the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Daffodil International University, Mr. Md. Asif Iqbal and Ms. Beauty Akter have become the Global Mentor for Startups in the World Congress- 2020 of World Business Angel Investment Forum (WBAF) due to the implementation of best practice of Startup business ideas and culture here at Daffodil International University. In the WC-2020, 30 people from 12 countries were selected as the Global Mentors for the Startups. The WBAF-2020 was held in Istanbul, Turkey, where more than 1500 participants from 92 countries participated.
