Current Collaborations with Local, National, and Global Health Institutions

Daffodil International University (DIU) is committed to improving health and well-being outcomes through dynamic and sustained collaborations with institutions across the local, national, and global healthcare ecosystem. These partnerships are leveraged to advance health policy, conduct applied research, and deliver scalable community services, directly reinforcing the core targets of SDG 3.

1. Strategic Global and High-Level Academic Partnerships & Collaboration

DIU partners with leading international universities and organizations to exchange cutting-edge knowledge, standardize curriculum, and contribute original research to global health platforms.

Elevating Health Education Standards (BCU, UK): The collaboration with Birmingham City University (BCU), UK, for the Dual Award MPH Program is DIU’s flagship initiative for quality assurance in public health. The exceptional success rate—with 60% of the second student cohort graduating with distinction—is a direct, measurable outcome of this collaboration's effectiveness in transferring international best practices in curriculum design, faculty training, and academic rigor. Furthermore, DIU actively seeks to strengthen this tie, exemplified by the visit of Dr. Salim Khan, Head of the College of Life Sciences at BCU, to discuss a potential PGCert program, ensuring continuous elevation of academic standards.

Pioneering US-Based Research Linkages: DIU is focused on establishing deep research collaborations with US institutions, aiming for long-term, high-impact research outputs. A faculty member is actively engaged in discussions with the Hope Foundation (Florida, USA) and the University of Nebraska, USA, to formalize an MoU for joint research. This initiative is designed to bridge local health challenges with international research capacity and funding.

Contributing to Global Health Policy Research (WHO, IUSSP): DIU faculty actively participate in world-leading forums to ensure local research informs global discussions and benchmarks:

Attendance at the World Conference on Tobacco Control 2025 (organized by The Union and WHO in Ireland) ensures DIU’s commitment to providing data and analysis for this critical area of global health policy.

Participation in the 30th IUSSP International Population Conference (IPC 2025) in Australia facilitates DIU's contribution to the demographic and population health data required for effective global SDG monitoring.

2. National-Level Collaborations for Service Delivery and Policy

DIU works with key national government-affiliated bodies and corporate innovators to create scalable health solutions, influence policy, and address systemic health disparities.

24/7 Digital Health Innovation (DocTime Limited): The strategic partnership with DocTime Limited, a leading telemedicine provider, is DIU’s key effort in leveraging technology for health accessibility. By providing 24/7 telemedicine services to the entire DIU family, the university addresses common access barriers and sets a standard for university healthcare. This collaboration is a quantifiable contribution to SDG 9 the health sector.

Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Focus: An MoU was signed with the Hypertension and Research Center, Rangpur, to facilitate joint efforts in research, training, and public health initiatives focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). This partnership is crucial for advancing healthcare knowledge and improving community well-being in an area of growing national concern.

Integrated Health Equity and Justice (Police Staff College Bangladesh): DIU has forged a unique cross-sectoral partnership with the Police Staff College Bangladesh. This collaboration is designed not just for training but to advance health equity, integrate health and criminal justice perspectives, and conduct joint research on topics that address social determinants of health and well-being. This specialized focus contributes directly to reducing health disparities.

3. Community Health Outreach and Awareness Partnerships

DIU's commitment to SDG 3 extends into the community through practical, high-impact collaborations with civil society and the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on immediate needs and preventative awareness.

Disease Awareness and Screening Partnerships: The Department of Pharmacy maintains robust, frequent collaborations with pharmaceutical industry partners to drive preventative health campaigns:

o    Collaboration with Ziska Pharmaceuticals Limited for a successful Breast Cancer Awareness Program.

o    Partnership with Everest Pharmaceuticals Ltd. to organize a broader Cancer Awareness Program. These partnerships ensure the delivery of crucial health education and awareness sessions to both the university community and the local populace.

Hepatitis Eradication and Model Community Creation: DIU’s partnership with the National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh is pivotal for sustained community health intervention:

o    They co-organized a Hepatitis Awareness Rally and a free screening program, directly impacting local health metrics.

o    This deep collaboration culminated in the launch of the Public Health Study Site in Bhabanipur, Savar, transforming a local area into a hub for sustained health education and research. The site is actively working to create a hepatitis-free, smoke-free, and plastic-free community, thereby integrating health with environmental goals.

Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Aid: DIU demonstrated its immediate public well-being commitment by partnering with Dhaka University and the DIU Volunteer Service Club to distribute 1,000 Water Purifier Packs to flood-affected communities. This direct action addressed the critical needs for clean water and sanitation (SDG 6) in a humanitarian crisis context, illustrating collaboration for immediate life-saving impact.

These integrated collaborations solidify DIU’s role as an engaged and data-driven partner, translating academic expertise into measurable health and well-being improvements across local and global communities.
