SDG - 3
Daffodil International University (DIU) is deeply committed to fostering a safe, informed, and confidential environment where students can access essential sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care, information, and education. This support is delivered through a holistic approach that integrates professional clinical services, psychological support, and dedicated health literacy initiatives across the campus.
1. Provision of Confidential Clinical and Counseling Services
DIU ensures students receive professional, non-judgmental SRH advice and physical care by integrating its medical and psychological support units. This dual-access model prioritizes confidentiality and comprehensive well-being.
● Confidential Professional Access: The university’s Medical Center serves as the primary access point for SRH services. It is staffed with 03 full-time MBBS doctors and 03 full-time nurses who are trained to offer supportive advice on sensitive SRH matters. Students can utilize these services to confidentially discuss crucial topics, including sexual health, family planning, and reproductive wellness. The availability of on-site medical professionals ensures that any physical health concerns related to SRH are addressed promptly and discreetly.
● Integrated Medical and Psychological Support: The university recognizes that SRH issues often carry emotional and mental components. Therefore, the Medical Center works in close collaboration with the Psychological Service Unit, which includes 02 full-time psychologists. This seamless integration ensures students have access to comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care that addresses both the physical and mental health aspects of SRH, promoting emotional regulation and resilience alongside physical wellness.

2. Comprehensive Educational and Informational Outreach
DIU proactively embeds SRH education into its broader health and well-being initiatives, empowering students to build life skills and make informed, responsible decisions about their health.
● Dedicated Educational Sessions: The university delivers essential educational resources and sessions that cover key SRH topics. These include direct instruction and awareness on crucial areas like contraception, safe sexual practices, and reproductive rights. By providing these formalized resources, DIU supports a safe and informed campus environment, directly aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education) by equipping students with essential health literacy.
● Targeted Health Literacy and Preventative Campaigns: Beyond SRH specifics, DIU uses student bodies (like the Public Health Club) to run broader awareness campaigns that create a healthy environment foundational to reproductive well-being. This includes student-led video presentations on "Misuses of Anti-ulcerants" and fast-food awareness, promoting the rational use of medicines and healthy nutrition.
● Educational Outreach via Policy Focus: The collaboration with the National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh extends educational efforts to critical environmental determinants impacting long-term health. The commitment to creating a smoke-free community directly supports a healthier internal environment, reducing exposure to toxins that negatively impact reproductive health and overall well-being.
3. Fostering a Culture of Resilience and Financial Well-being
The commitment to holistic student wellness at DIU creates a supportive social and psychological climate essential for approaching and discussing SRH issues responsibly.
● Building Emotional Regulation for Responsible Choices: DIU’s extensive mental health support system offers workshops on Stress Management and Anger Management. This equips students with the emotional regulation and self-awareness necessary to navigate complex personal and health decisions, which is foundational to responsible, informed SRH choices.
● Financial Security for Stability: The provision of a Life Insurance Program helps promote the long-term well-being and stability of students by ensuring financial security. Reducing external stressors related to financial insecurity is an important, indirect factor that significantly impacts a student's ability to focus on their overall health and make sound SRH decisions.
The combination of professional, confidential medical and psychological services, coupled with proactive educational efforts and an institutional commitment to holistic student wellness, demonstrates DIU’s sustained commitment to supporting the sexual and reproductive health needs of its community.
