SDG - 3
Daffodil International University (DIU) is committed to providing comprehensive mental health and emotional well-being support to its staff members. This commitment is institutionalized through dedicated on-campus resources and proactive, organization-wide campaigns led by the Human Resources department, ensuring that the working environment promotes both physical and psychological health.
1. Proactive Mental Wellness Campaigns, Training and Counseling Sessions
The Human Resources (HR) department actively runs continuous awareness and training campaigns targeted specifically at staff, focusing on preventive mental health and ergonomic well-being in the workplace.
● Work-Related Stress Management: DIU uses organization-wide communications to promote good mental practices. Campaigns provide quick tips for managing work-related stress during the workday, such as taking mini-breaks, clearing the desk, and practicing mindfulness.
● Promoting Ergonomics and Physical Health: HR runs essential campaigns like "Daffodil Care: Ergonomic Sitting Tips for a Healthier Workday" and "Stay Active at Work – Quick Stretches to Boost Your Day!" By reducing physical strain and fatigue, these initiatives contribute directly to reducing the mental load and preventing burnout among employees, aligning with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
● Training for a Supportive Ecosystem: DIU ensures that the institutional environment is supportive. Psychologists facilitate specialized training for teachers of the Art of Living course to help them recognize and compassionately guide students who may be struggling emotionally or psychologically. By enhancing the empathy and support skills of faculty, this effort strengthens the entire staff ecosystem.
3. Fostering a Culture of Resilience and Inclusivity
DIU extends its commitment to staff well-being by involving them in internal development and recognizing their contributions, which boosts morale and reduces psychological strain.
● Promoting Employee Development: Internal training sessions, such as the Capacity-Building Program for Coordination Officers focusing on professionalism, time management, and stress management, are designed to empower the staff and equip them with practical skills to navigate high-demand roles, thereby supporting their long-term well-being and career growth.
● Inclusivity and Recognition: DIU organized a special sports tournament for its below officers (support staff) to celebrate their hard work and dedication. This recognition activity, focusing on team spirit and a well-deserved break, promotes good health and well-being and fosters a sense of belonging among the essential local workforce (SDG 3, 8).
These dedicated resources and preventative organizational campaigns demonstrate DIU's robust and institutionalized commitment to supporting the mental health of its entire staff community.
2. Dedicated On-Campus Professional Support
DIU ensures staff members have access to continuous and confidential professional psychological care through its centralized on-campus infrastructure, mirroring the support offered to students.
● Dedicated Staffing and Access: The Medical Center staff includes 02 full-time psychologists who provide crucial, accessible mental health support directly on campus. Staff members can access professional counseling without barriers, ensuring discretion and availability.
● Psychological Counseling Services: The core provision is managed by the Psychological Service Unit, which offers individual counseling sessions designed to help staff members manage work-related stress, personal difficulties, and mental health challenges in a safe and supportive environment.
● Integrated Care Model: The Psychological Service Unit works in close collaboration with the on-campus MBBS doctors and nurses within the Medical Center. This integration ensures that mental health support is seamlessly linked with physical health care, recognizing the holistic nature of well-being.
