Sexual and Reproductive Health-Care Services for Students

Daffodil International University (DIU) is committed to providing a safe, informed, and inclusive environment where the sexual and reproductive health of students and staff is prioritized. Through a synergistic approach involving the university’s Medical Center, the Department of Public Health, and the Psychological Service Unit, DIU offers comprehensive healthcare services that combine clinical support with robust educational outreach. These services are designed to be non-judgmental and confidential, ensuring that all members of the university community have access to the resources necessary to make informed decisions about their reproductive lives and personal well-being.

Provision of Confidential Clinical and Counseling Services

DIU ensures students receive professional, non-judgmental SRH advice and physical care by integrating its medical and psychological support units. This dual-access model prioritizes confidentiality and comprehensive well-being.

Confidential Professional Access: The university’s Medical Center serves as the primary access point for SRH services. It is staffed with 03 full-time MBBS doctors and 03 full-time nurses who are trained to offer supportive advice on sensitive SRH matters. Students can utilize these services to confidentially discuss crucial topics, including sexual health, family planning, and reproductive wellness. The availability of on-site medical professionals ensures that any physical health concerns related to SRH are addressed promptly and discreetly.

Integrated Medical and Psychological Support: The university recognizes that SRH issues often carry emotional and mental components. Therefore, the Medical Center works in close collaboration with the Psychological Service Unit, which includes 02 full-time psychologists. This seamless integration ensures students have access to comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care that addresses both the physical and mental health aspects of SRH, promoting emotional regulation and resilience alongside physical wellness.

Access to Specialized Gynecology and Diagnostic Services

Through strategic partnerships with external health institutions like Cardio Care Specialized & General Hospital and Ibn Sina Diagnostic Center, DIU members have access to specialized gynecological consultancies and reproductive diagnostic tests. These partnerships allow students and staff to receive expert care and imaging services at a subsidized cost, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede access to essential reproductive healthcare.

Sexual and Reproductive Education & Outreach

"Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures" Campaign

In observance of World Health Day, DIU launched the year-long "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures" campaign. This initiative focuses on maternal and newborn health, urging the community to prioritize women's long-term well-being and safe reproductive practices. The campaign serves as a major educational pillar, aligning with global efforts to end preventable maternal deaths.

Specialized Women’s Health Seminars

DIU regularly hosts expert-led seminars such as the "Pink Month" Breast Cancer Awareness event. In collaboration with organizations like “Amra Nari,” these sessions educate women on early detection and self-examination. While focused on oncology, these seminars foster a broader culture of health consciousness that empowers women to take charge of their reproductive and physical health.

Comprehensive Reproductive Rights Workshops

DIU provides structured educational sessions on reproductive rights, contraception, and safe sexual practices. These sessions are designed to empower students with scientific information, helping them navigate their adult lives with confidence. By integrating these topics into its comprehensive well-being programs, the university supports an informed campus environment that respects individual agency.

Through the dedicated efforts of the DIU Medical Center and the Psychological Service Unit, Daffodil International University ensures that sexual and reproductive health is addressed with professional clinical care and compassionate education. By maintaining a 16-hour medical facility, providing confidential counseling, and hosting student-led awareness initiatives, DIU effectively supports the reproductive rights and health of its entire community. This holistic framework ensures that every student and staff member is equipped with the knowledge and services required for a healthy, informed, and fulfilling life.
