Policy for Creating Opportunities for Local Communities for participation in Events and Programs

1. Preamble

Daffodil International University (DIU) organizes a plenty of events mainly for development of the students round the year. The events are focused on enriching a global curriculum in different disciplines, supporting research & innovation, partnering with community collaborators, entertainment, career fair etc. DIU is obligated to ensure that it has the ability to create a harmonic teaching and learning environment in the campus.

This policy outlines event organization procedures and priorities without depending on DIU's fund related to students, faculty members and/or officials to: scheduling, maintenance of a master calendar, assignment of responsibilities, information dissemination, operational guidelines, traffic and parking control, facility rental, usage of resources, ensuring health safety and legal compliance.

2. Aim & Intention

2.1. Every event must have a specific target with achievable outcome, a positive impact and a visible return in DIU's branding, image and career of students.
2.2. Students will plan, manage, arrange the event and will move outside for sponsors.
2.3. These procedures establish a set of standards and protocols for the management of Events held within the University precincts and/or Events supported and sponsored by DIU or by third parties.
2.4. The aims of these procedures are:
(a) To ensure all such Events are consistent with DIU's vision, mission and strategic plan;
(b) To involve DIU students to all levels to make them doers;
(c) To make and maintain a very good industry-academia tie with all industries, including event and media companies so that they allocate huge budget for various activities of DIU;
(d) To make a craze to event management companies by using DIU venue and campus resources so that they feel honored to be associated with us.
(e) To ensure the access of general public and local community to the events organized by DIU

3. Details of the Event where the Local Communities will have Access to

For purposes of these procedures, unless otherwise stated, the following definitions shall apply.
3.1. Events may be sponsored externally, including but not limited to:
(a) Functions, visitor hosting.
(b) Ceremonies, launches, anniversaries, exhibitions.
(c) Conferences, Workshop.
(d) Seminars, public lectures.
(e) Performances, cultural and recreational activities, concerts.
(f) Industry visits, picnics, tours.
(g) Fairs, carnivals, days, competitions.
(h) Foundation day celebration
3.2. They do not include:
(a) Timetabled teaching
(b) Coursework
(c) Student support
(d) Academic meeting.
3.3. External Events: Are carried out jointly by non-University entity and DIU and are aligned with the University's objectives of undertaking teaching and research to maintain, disseminate and advance knowledge.
3.4. Internal Events: Are those organized by, carried out in the name of, and primarily funded or underwritten by, third party, or DIU, but owned by DIU for the benefit of staff, students, prospective students, alumni, donors, local community, and friends of the University consistent with that University entity's operational plan.
3.5. Based on nature, all events would be categorized in two (2) categories.
(a) Academic Events and
(b) Extra Curricula Events

A list of the invited and participated guests will be recorded and acknowledged by the Public Relations Office (PRO).

The Public Relations Section of DIU will be responsible to deal with the invitation of the local community and ensure all facilities available to them during the events. They will make a report of the attendance of local community and submit it to the university management.
