Providing subsidized food for staff

1250+

DIU has implemented comprehensive subsidized food programs to ensure that both students and staff have access to healthy and affordable meals. More than 15,200 students benefit from these programs, which offer nutritious meal options at significantly reduced prices. Additionally, over 1,250 staff members receive subsidized meals. By making meals affordable, DIU ensures that financial constraints do not compromise the ability of students and staff to maintain a healthy diet.

Healthy Meal Options at the Green-Garden Restaurant

The Green-Garden restaurant on campus provides a wide selection of healthy meal choices, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The meals are designed to be nutritious, with a focus on balanced diets that include ample fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. The emphasis on providing varied and wholesome meals ensures that the campus community has access to healthy food that supports both physical well-being and academic performance.

Focus on Nutrition Through the Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering

The Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering (NFE) plays a critical role in promoting healthy eating habits on campus. The department engages in research and educational activities that emphasize the importance of a balanced diet, ensuring that students are well-informed about the health benefits of choosing nutritious meals. This academic emphasis supports DIU’s efforts to provide healthy and affordable food choices for everyone on campus.

Affordable Food Access Through Startup Food Initiative

Different Food Stall  in Food Court

The Startup Food initiative at DIU’s food court offers a variety of affordable meals, ensuring that students and staff can enjoy healthy food without financial strain. By keeping the prices of meals low, this initiative makes healthy eating accessible to all members of the campus community. The use of fresh and locally sourced ingredients further contributes to the healthiness of the meals, aligning with DIU’s mission to support overall well-being through proper nutrition.
