Agricultural Machinery Fair and Seminar
DIU’s Department of Agricultural Science organized an Agricultural Machinery Fair and Seminar in collaboration with the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). This event aimed to bridge the knowledge gap between researchers, students, and local farmers. It provided a platform for farmers to learn about and interact with modern farming machinery and technology. During the fair, practical demonstrations were conducted, enabling farmers to gain hands-on experience and better understand how to utilize advanced equipment in their agricultural practices. Over 375 students and numerous local farmers attended, fostering collaboration and knowledge transfer between academia and the agricultural community.
Workshops on Sustainable Farming Practices
DIU hosts workshops focused on sustainable and organic farming methods for local farmers. These workshops cover essential topics such as soil health management, water conservation techniques, and organic pest control. By participating in these events, farmers acquire practical knowledge that can be directly applied to their farming operations, improving crop yields while reducing environmental impact. These workshops provide a valuable space for farmers to exchange experiences and learn from experts in the field, promoting long-term agricultural sustainability.
Seedling Distribution and Farmer Engagement Events
As part of DIU’s commitment to supporting sustainable agriculture, the university organizes events where rice and vegetable seedlings are distributed to flood-affected farmers. These events are not just about providing resources; they also serve as educational sessions where farmers learn about best practices for planting and maintaining their crops in a sustainable manner. Faculty from the Department of Agricultural Science provide guidance on efficient agricultural techniques, ensuring that farmers can maximize productivity while minimizing environmental impact. These engagements also offer farmers the opportunity to connect with agricultural experts and fellow farmers, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.
