Access to Physical Health-Care Services and Education

Daffodil International University (DIU) is committed to the holistic well-being of its community, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have comprehensive access to high-quality physical health-care services. Operating within the "Daffodil Smart City," the university has established a centralized medical infrastructure that blends immediate clinical care with extensive health education and community outreach. By fostering partnerships with specialized hospitals and integrating advanced technology into patient management, DIU ensures that health services are not only accessible but also proactive, preventative, and inclusive of the surrounding local community.

Manned by a dedicated team of Medical Officers, Physiotherapists, and Medical Assistants, the center handles everything from routine check-ups to nebulization and oxygen therapy. For cases requiring advanced intervention, the center maintains a 24/7 ambulance service and formal referral links to specialized hospitals. Furthermore, DIU has secured strategic partnerships with institutions like Cardio Care Specialized & General Hospital and Ibn Sina Diagnostic Center, providing stakeholders with a 30% discount on specialized consultancies and diagnostic tests.

Health and Well-being Education & Outreach

Community Medical Camps and Health Screenings

DIU extends its clinical expertise to the local community through massive outreach projects. The DIU Air Rover Scout Group, in collaboration with the Medical Center, hosted a Free Medical Camp at Ashulia School and College, providing consultations and medicines to over 500 patients. Similarly, the Department of Public Health organized full-day awareness programs on hypertension and diabetes, including a free medical camp at Paragram High School for blood pressure and glucose testing.

Specialized Cancer Awareness and Prevention

The university maintains a rigorous schedule of specialized health education. During "Pink Month," the Department of Public Health and the Department of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Ziska Pharmaceuticals and Everest Pharmaceuticals, organized multiple seminars on breast cancer and oncology. These events featured oncologists and surgeons who educated the community on early detection, self-examination, and preventive measures.

Infectious Disease Control: Dengue and Hepatitis Campaigns

To combat regional health threats, DIU organized high-level discussions on "Dengue Prevention and Control" with experts from Jahangirnagar University. Furthermore, the Department of Public Health collaborated with the National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh for a Hepatitis Awareness Rally and free screening program, launching a specialized study site at Vobanipur to empower local communities against communicable diseases.

Maternal, Reproductive, and Newborn Health Initiatives

Through the "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures" campaign and student-led video projects on pregnancy awareness, DIU provides essential education on reproductive health. These programs empower students and local women with information on maternal well-being and safe practices, directly supporting global health goals for women and children.

Innovation in Healthcare: AI and Biomedical Research

The Health Informatics Research Lab (HIRL) has signed MoUs with foundations like Human Aid Bangladesh to leverage AI for medical applications. Additionally, the Industry Dialogue Series on Biomedical Science and seminars on Nanofiber Biomedical Innovations bring together global experts from Purdue and Texas A&M to educate students and industry professionals on the future of healthcare technology.

Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness

DIU integrates physical safety with environmental health through campus-wide mosquito eradication drives and OHS seminars on workplace safety. The university also delivers critical "Earthquake Awareness" education to the entire community, ensuring that preparedness and physical safety are treated as a collective institutional responsibility.

Specialized Humanitarian and Blood Donation Services

The "Daffodil Lifeline" blood donation event, held in collaboration with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, serves as a vital resource for local hospitals. Additionally, DIU volunteers provide month-long humanitarian services at the National Hajj Camp, offering wheelchair support and first aid to thousands of pilgrims, demonstrating a deep commitment to physical care and community service.

Through the integration of the DIU Medical Center’s 16-hour clinical operations, 24/7 emergency support, and an extensive calendar of public health outreach, Daffodil International University ensures that physical healthcare is a lived reality. By balancing immediate treatment with long-term preventative education and community-based medical camps, the university creates a resilient health ecosystem that serves both its internal stakeholders and the wider society.
